My tryst with data..
I’m Ganes (I know, the name is pronounced Gun-ace 🙂 ). I am deeply curious to know what’s next and to figure out how it can be influenced. Whether finding out how data drives business decisions or how AI will shape our future, I find both equally invigorating.
Starting my career in technology consulting, I spent a decade helping Fortune 50 clients use technology to transform their businesses. My tryst with data happened about a decade back when I cofounded Gramener.
Starting relatively early, before data science or big data became buzzwords, I spent quality time on the foundational aspects, executing hands-on. I enjoy strategizing with a big-picture view and helping leaders translate the vision into action.
I’ve been time-logging my days for 5 years now. I analyze the 150,000+ data points to build habits and (compulsively ) optimize my productivity. I dissect my blog traffic for insights on what makes my stories loved.
Starting up and scaling..
It has been an enriching journey founding and scaling two startups. I experimented with the practical aspects of startup building and observed the influencers of a startup’s culture.
Over a decade, I spent time leading Gramener and founding the Centres of Excellence in executive advisory, data analysis, machine learning, and information design.
I’ve led the execution of hundreds of data & analytics engagements and strategized with the executive leadership of startups and Fortune 50 clients.
I founded Innovation Titan to demystify data science and enable business leaders to build data-driven organizations. I advise, speak, and write to help decision-makers realize the true potential of data and analytics.
Learning and sharing..
I’ve found a higher purpose in sharing knowledge and giving back. Advising, speaking and writing are turning out to be great channels to achieve this. They are helping me reach a wide base of people and multiply the impact.
I fell in love with the written word early in my childhood and have been hooked to books ever since. I’ve been blogging for over a decade and contributing articles to several publications.
I enjoy teaching, and the quest to share knowledge with an audience keeps me engaged. I find that this accelerates my learning process.
Finding how people engage with my words, at times years after they were written, energizes me to create content – both timely and timeless.
When off the grid..
When off the world of data, I enjoy watching movies, binge-playing computer games, and love connecting with nature. I’m an avid hiker.
Solo backpacking in the Himalayas has been a personal high, a milestone I’m trying to beat. In my earlier life, I played chess at the national level. Unfortunately, I dropped out, missing a professional career in the game.
I have a newfound love for yoga. I’m excited by how this brings together various aspects of my life. I’m grateful and thrilled about the future.
I live in Princeton, NJ, with my wife and 2 kids. They often challenge me to board games. We team up to catch & release fireflies or build a snowman as the season permits!
